Cashion girls finish 6th at state track
Abby Hobgood and Lauren Lamb made the medal stand in three events to help keep Cashion in contention throughout much of the Class 2A track and field state championships.
Hobgood and Lamb joined forces with Bella Woody and Reese Williams to finish state runner-up in the 800 meter relay on Friday night.
That same quartet took fourth in the 400 meter relay in the first race on Saturday at Catoosa High School.
Those races accounted for 26 of Cashion’s 45 total points as the Lady Wildcats finished sixth in the Class 2A overall standings.
Hobgood added to her trips to the medal stand later Saturday when the freshman took third in the 200 meter dash.
The bronze medal was earned with a time of 26.85.
Lamb, a senior signed to continue her track and field career at Oklahoma Baptist University, was fifth in the long jump. Her best leap was 16 feet, 2 inches.
The 800 relay team was edged by Crescent (see related story).
Issy Reeves was also able to earn silver for Cashion.
The senior’s best throw of 35 feet, 7 inches was bested only by Wynnewood’s Tyley Dotson.
The remainder of Cashion’s point total came from freshman Sierra McCracken, who was eighth in the 800.
Gage Bedick was the lone point scorer for the Cashion boys team.
Bedick was fifth in the mile run with his time of 4:53.33.
