Bethany hands KHS loss in final district game
Kingfisher was dealt a loss in its final district softball game of the season.
The Lady Jackets were defeated 10-0 Thursday at Bethany.
It was a 1-0 game entering the fourth inning before Bethany broke it open with a five-run inning.
The Lady Bronchos added three more in the fifth.
KHS was held without a hit in the game.
The loss dropped the team to 12-15 overall.
Kingfisher finished 3-9 in District 4A-1 games, which places it sixth.
Weatherford won the district with a 12-0 mark.
Elk City (9-3) was second, followed by Woodward (7-4), Bethany (6-5) and Clinton (3-8).
Mount St. Mary (0-11) was last.
Clinton wins the sixthplace tie-breaker with KHS due to its sweep of the Lady Jackets.
Kingfisher will likely travel to Blanchard for a four-team regional tournament this week.
Blanchard was the runner- up behind Newcastle in District 3 and will play Western Heights in its opening round.
Western Heights was seventh in District 2.
KHS would pair up with Dickson, which was third in District 4.
The regional tournament will begin Thursday.
The OSSAA will release the official brackets by Tuesday.
Kingfisher will conclude its regular season on Monday when it hosts Chisholm.
The two teams have split games this season.
KHS won 14-2 on Aug. 18 in the Highway 33 Classic in Kingfisher.
Chisholm got its revenge with a 6-5 victory on Sept. 2 in the Highway 81 Classic.
