Apache no match for Tigers
Crescent methodically pulled away from Boone-Apache to earn its second straight road win of the season.
The Tigers controlled the game with their running attack and kept their hosts out of the end zone until the fourth quarter Friday to earn a 21-6 victory.
That moved Crescent to 2-1 on the season as it prepares to host Newkirk this week.
Tayon Johnson had 106 yards rushing and added 12 tackles on defense.
The senior back scored on an 18-yard run in the third quarter to help give the Tigers a 14-0 lead.
That would prove to be more than enough.
Tanner Rice already had one rushing touchdown in the first half when he iced the game with a 3-yard scoring run with 7:53 to play.
Parker Harris’ third extra-point pushed the Tigers on top 21-0.
Johnson got his yards on 17 attempts.
Rice added 43 yards on 15 carries while Luke Descher chipped in 31 more rushing yards.
Crescent ran for 178 total.
The Tigers gave up 154 yards to the Warriors, but only 22 through the air and also got two takeaways.
Apache was also flagged 12 times for 110 yards.
Kade Varner added 35 passing yards for Crescent.
Tylan Neugent contributed 10 tackles for the Tiger defense. Descher added seven.
