ALL-DISTRICT
6 Lady Jackets grab postseason honor
Six Kingfisher High School softball players were voted to the 4A-1 All-District team by its coaches.
Three of them earned first-team honors. Selected to the first team were Liliana Garramone as an outfielder, Lily Voth as a pitcher and Adlee Friesen as a utility player.
Earning honorable mention were Kinlee East, Kendall Farrar and Addison Johnson.
All six players are either freshmen or sophomores.
“It’s always an honor to earn all-district, but especially this year,” said KHS head coach Morgan Dutton.
“This was a super tough district with tons of talent. A lot of girls we played against this year are college commits.”
District 4A-1 produced the state champion in Weatherford as the Lady Eagles went 33-2 overall and claimed the state title last Saturday by downing Purcell 5-0.
Weatherford went 11-1 in district games with that lone loss coming at the hands of KHS.
Elk City, which was second in the district with a 9-3 mark, also qualified for state.
The Elkettes’ only district losses were a sweep at the hands of Weatherford - which also beat Elk City in the state quarterfinals - and to Kingfisher.
KHS went 6-6 in district games and placed fifth. The Lady Jackets were 23-9 on the season despite just one senior on the roster.
A sophomore, Garramone led the team with a .412 batting average and .551 onbase percentage.
She was third on the team with 25 runs scored, drove in 12 runs and also drew a team-high 21 walks.
Friesen, also a sophomore, tied for fourth on the team with a .357 average. She tied for second with 30 hits, was second with 27 runs and also drove in 12 RBIs.

She struck out 66 batters, walked only 17 and carried a 2.24 earned run average.
Voth was also third on the team with a .361 average and tied for first with 21 RBIs. She collected 30 hits and scored 16 runs.
Like Voth, East was a dual threat for KHS.
In her sophomore campaign, she pitched 85 2/3 innings during which she gave up 61 runs, 42 of them earned.
East struck out 67 batters, walked 29 and had a 3.43 ERA.
At the plate, East was second on the team with a .396 average and .456 ONBP. She led the team with 36 hits. Of those, 17 went for extra bases as she had a team-high 11 doubles and she also hit two home runs.
East led the team with 33 runs and was third with 20 RBIs.
Johnson was tied for fourth with a .357 average. The freshman collected 25 hits, 16 RBIs and scored 18 times.
