5 Lady Jackets, coach earn WAC honors
Snider earns offensive, first-teams selection; Young named conference COY
Kingfisher’s Taylor Young was voted Coach of the Year by her peers in the Western Athletic Conference for the 2024-25 basketball season.
The Lady Jackets’ lone senior - Raegan Snider - was voted the Offensive Player of the Year as well as a spot on the all-conference first team.
Those were two of six members of the KHS girls basketball program to earn conference honors.
Joining Snider on the all-conference first team was junior guard Reese Roof.
Junior Abbie Myers was voted to the all-conference second team while sophomores Adlee Friesen and Mattie Slezickey earned honorable mention.
Kingfisher was 22-7 on the season and advanced to the Class 4A state quarterfi nals.
The team went 7-4 in conference games.
The conference also produced 4A state tournament teams Bethany and Newcastle as well as 3A state qualifier Anadarko.
Snider averaged 13.0 points and 6.1 rebounds a game, leading the team in both categories.
She also had 2.1 assists and 1.2 steals a game while shooting 54.1 percent from the field.
Roof was second on the team with 11.5 points per game. She added 2. 4 boards, 2.5 assists and 3.0 steals a contest.
Myers was third on the team with her 10.5 points a game and second with 5.7 rebounds a contest. She also averaged 1.8 assists and 2.0 steals.
Friesen averaged 5.7 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.4 steals a game.
Slezickey contributed 5.0 points, 2.2 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 2.1 steals a contest.
Young just completed her fourth season at Kingfisher and got the Lady Jackets to state for the third time.
Her teams are 93-25 in those four seasons.
Bethany’s Kayten Don ley was voted the Most Valuable Player of the Conference.
Abby Brown of Elk City was named the Defensive Player of the Year.
