2A #2 Am-Po ends Okarche win streak; Warriors win big
Okarche already had one win over one of the top 2A teams in Oklahoma.
The Lady Warriors just missed out on another.
Teague Muncy scored 25 points to lead No. 2 Amber-Pocasset to a 47-43 victory at Class A’s seventh- ranked Okarche on Friday.
“We had opportunities, but missed way too many shots we should be making,” said Haley Mitchel after her team’s 12-game win streak was put to an end.
The beginning of that streak saw Okarche beat Pocola on the last day of the Tournament of Champions in Tulsa.
Pocola was ranked No. 1 in 2A at the time and is currently No. 4.
Dale, now at No. 1 in 2A, has handed Am-Po its only loss of the season.
The Lady Panthers jumped to a 13-10 lead on Okarche after a quarter, but the Lady Warriors were able to tie it up by halftime. Muncy then scored nine points in the third as Am-Po was able to take a 33-28 lead.
Jadyn Rother helped Okarche stay close in the fourth.
She scored nine of her team-high 19 points and Tyson Endres added four more.
But Am-Po made 8 of 10 free throws to help seal its win.
Ainslee McComas was 4 of 5 and scored six of her 13 in the fourth.
Endres added 10 for Okarche while Emma Stover scored eight and Jalie Rother six.
Okarche was 18-5 after the loss.

Four Okarche starters scored in double figures Friday as the Warriors won their eighth straight game.
Dominant second and third quarters spurred Class A’s fifth-ranked team to an 84-52 home win against Amber-Pocasset.
The Panthers were able to hang with Okarche’s pace and pressure for the first eight minutes.
The home team boasted just a 22-18 lead, but the next 16 minutes were a different story.
The Warriors outscored Am-Po 27-6 in the second and then 28-9 in the third quarter to build an insurmountable advantage.
Okarche took advantage of 25 Panther turnovers by scoring 37 points off of them.
