Sanders comments on House assignments
House Majority Leader Mike Sanders recently commented on being named to various House committees for the 57th Legislature, which includes 2019 and 2020.
Sanders will chair the House Utilities Committee and serve as a member on the House Agriculture & Rural Development, Appropriations & Budget, and Energy & Natural Resources committees.
“Each of these committee assignments will allow me to continue to protect the interests of House District 59 residents as I also look out for the best interests of all Oklahomans,” said Sanders, R-Kingfisher.
“Agriculture, energy and natural resources and utilities are of incredible importance to our communities in terms of the economy and jobs, and I look forward to being a diligent watchman over the legislation that passes through these committees. Serving on the Appropriations and Budget Committee also will allow me to continue to shape the state budget as I have every year I’ve served at the House.
“Providing adequate funding for core government services while protecting taxpayer dollars is the No. 1 priority of a state lawmaker. It’s an honor to again serve in this role.”
In December, Sanders was asked by House Speaker Charles McCall to remain in his leadership role as House Majority Leader for the 57th Legislature. This position helps guide policy, communicates to the public the initiatives of the Oklahoma House Republican Caucus and House leaders, and steers the House agenda.
The job also includes communicating initiatives from the governor and the state Senate.
