Thelma Hansens
Thelma May (Pool) Hansens, 98, of Kingfisher, died June 23, 2020, at her home.
She was born March 20, 1922, in Dover to Byron and Carrie (Zachgo) Pool.
Thelma graduated from Big Four High School in 1942.
She married Herbert Hansens of Kingfisher, on July 18, 1942, at the Evangelical and Reformed Church in Kingfisher. They were married 66 years.
Thelma was a lifelong member of the Federated Church. She kept the nursery for many years. She was a part of the Federated Women’s Circle and held several offices.
She also attended the Kansas-Oklahoma Conference of the United Church of Christ several times.
She had also been a member of the Mother’s Club, Unit 2, for several years.
For over 60 years she was a part of the Plainview Extension Club. She served in many offices and enjoyed making things for the County Fair.
She did sewing, needlepoint, cross stitch, making Kleenex boxes with yarn and some canning.
Thelma and Herbert loved being a part of card clubs playing both pitch and pinochle. They took several trips going to Hawaii, Australia, New Zealand, Washington, D.C., and especially Branson.
She enjoyed family time, reunions, Thunder basketball, all OSU sports and traveling. She was especially proud of having made both of her daughters’ wedding dresses.
Thelma is survived by two daughters, Nancy Teders and husband Alfred, and Linda Hill, all of Kingfisher; grandchildren Sharon Miller and husband Brian of Kingfisher, Jason Hill and wife Melissa of Kingfisher, Justin Teders and wife Gaylene of Yukon, Amber Mills Ballard and husband Ben of Kingfisher, and Johnathan Hill of El Reno; and great-grandchildren, Logan and Taylor Mills, Jeremiah, Jodie and Lillie Ann Hill, Matthew and Samuel Miller, and Carmen Teders.
Also surviving are two sisters, Betty Barnum of Oklahoma City and Eva Golden and husband John of Edmond; two sistersin-law, Marilyn Pool of Tulsa and Ruth Murray of Cottonwood, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son-in-law Jim Hill; sister Laurine Brock and husband Wayne; brothers Bill Pool and wife Thelma and Theo Pool; brotherin-law Ralph Hansens and wife Jeannine; sisterin-law Adele Hansens; and brother-in-law Pat Murray.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday, June 29, at the Federated Church in Kingfisher under the direction of Sanders Funeral Service.
