AREA DEATH

Myrtle Mae Grape, a longtime resident of the Kingfisher area, passed away Saturday, Nov. 9, 2019, at the age of 88.

Myrtle was born Nov. 19, 1930, to Eva Mae (Rasp) and Glen Bryon Frymire in Kingfi sher.

She was the second of nine children.

She was raised in Idaho during her childhood, but came back to Oklahoma later in life.

Myrtle went to high school in Kingfi sher.

She married Grover Grape on Nov. 22, 1950.

They were married for 68 years when Grover passed in 2018. After receiving her GED, she completed nursing school at St. Anthony’s School of Nursing.

She worked at the Kingfisher hospital, Guthrie hospital, various nursing homes, for Dr. Richard Hogue and Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City, where she retired.

Myrtle attended Central Baptist Church.

She is survived by her children, Eva Jo Sparks (Jack Baugess), Skipper Grape (Kim), Randy Grape, and Bonnie Thomas (Cullen); eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Goldie Grape (Harlan) of Krum, Texas, Betty Jo Donaldson of Clackamas, Ore., and Maryann White (Denny) of Payette, Idaho; two brothers, Leroy Statler (Ellie) of Little Elm, Texas, and Ora Paul Statler of Idaho; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Funeral service was 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13, at Central Baptist Church with Pastor Dan Maxwell and Pastor David Mendenhall offi ciating.

Interment will follow at Banner Cemetery.
