Melvin Franks

The memorial service for Melvin Franks, 86, was 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, at Hennessey Cemetery Pavilion officiated by Vernon Racer.

Cremation arrangements were by Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home.

Melvin was born at Bowlegs Jan. 23, 1935, to Melvin L. and Grace Crull Franks and died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2021, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Enid.

Melvin married Connie Wells in Foyil on May 17, 1960.

Melvin served on the Hennessey school board for several years.

He is survived by his wife Connie of the home; two daughters, Brenda Edmoundson and husband Mark of Bixby, Janice Cosper and husband Blake of Nixa, Mo.; one son, Joel Franks of Hennessey; four grandchildren, Nicholas Edmoundson, Gillian Edmoundson, Cody Cosper, Katie Cosper; one brother, D. A. Franks of Hennessey; and one sister, Sue Carpenter of Seminole.

Melvin was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Jack Franks, Dean Franks and Charles Franks.

Memorial donations may be made in his name to the American Diabetes Association with the funeral home serving as custodian of the fund.
