Marcellus Yarbrough
Marcellus Harold Yarbrough was born in Kingfisher to William E. and Zetha L. Yarbrough on Jan. 17, 1944.
Marcellus attended and graduated from Kingfisher High School and during his early years he found a love for listening to music, playing basketball, fishing, barbering and socializing with his siblings and classmates.
Marcellus was employed and retired loyally from the City of Kingfisher after 35 years with the Street Department, during which time he received various awards such as employee of the month, certifications and many other honorable recognitions.
Marcellus married Salina S. Yarbrough in 1967 and shared two daughters, Cynthia Diahann Yarbrough- Lloyd and Marcelyn Marie Yarbrough.
Marcellus later married Ivy S. Kuhn in 1978 and shared an enduring relationship with Vernia Reuter with whom he shared bonus daughters Christy Reuter, Ashley Powell, Ann Reuter and Michelle Yarbrough.
Upon enjoying his retirement and during his later years, Marcellus adored spending quality time with his grandchildren, siblings, relatives and other loved ones.
He thoroughly enjoyed listening, singing and dancing along to his favorite music.
He had many memories with loved ones and friends at cookouts, holidays, casinos and gatherings. Marcellus also loved the outdoors, specifically brush hogging throughout Kingfisher County, feeding his cows on the Yarbrough Farm and gardening his favorite trees and plants.
Marcellus heavenly passed in Houston, Texas, surrounded by family and many loved ones on Oct. 7, 2023.
He is survived by his children, Cynthia Diahann Yarbrough-Lloyd and Tony Carr Lloyd Jr. of Enid, Marcelyn Marie Yarbrough of Kingfisher and Michelle Yarbrough of Moore; grandchildren, Tony Carr Lloyd III, Cyntyia Diahasia Lloyd and Cyntia Diahnae Lloyd of Enid; aunt, Dr. Wanda Nelson; brothers, John Yarbrough of Oklahoma City, Dave Yarbrough of Detroit, Mich., Larry Yarbrough and Ricky Yarbrough of Kingfi sher; sisters, Shelia Yarbrough of Modesto, Calif., and Jin Ella Yarbrough of Fort Worth, Texas. Marcellus is survived furthermore by so many other loved ones that include, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and close friends.
Marcellus was preceded in death by his parents, William E. Yarbrough and Zetha L. Yarbrough; brothers William Yarbrough Jr., Anthony Yarbrough, Delbert Yarbrough, Michael Yarbrough and Duane Yarbrough; sisters Marie Yarbrough and Ruby Belle Yarbrough.
He was preceded furthermore by loved ones that inin clude in-laws, relatives and close friends.
Visitation for Marcellus will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 16, at Sanders Funeral Service Chapel.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17, at the First Christian Church in Kingfisher with burial following at Kingfi sher Cemetery under the direction of Sanders Funeral Service.
