Lucille Frances Mooers was born Jan. 11, 1948, in Plate Cove East Newfoundland, Canada, to Mary Margaret (Furlong) and Stephen Keough.

She passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2022, in Sayre at the age of 74 years, four months and seven days.

Lucille, known by her family and friends as “Nonnie,” grew up in Plate Cove East where she graduated from high school in Stephenville, Newfoundland, Canada.

After graduation she began her family and found employment at a newspaper in Des Moines, Iowa.

In 1971, she moved to Goose Bay, Labrador, Canada, where she worked as a civilian on the United States Air Force Base.

She moved to the United States in 1976 and settled in Kingfisher.

She supported her family working multiple jobs and even put herself through college, obtaining her master’s degree in accounting from Central State University.

Nonnie found employment at Kingfisher Memorial Hospital in the accounting department where she spent the next 28 years.

After her retirement, she moved to Erick to be near her daughter and grandchildren.

Nonnie enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her grandchildren, gardening, reading and caring for stray cats and other animals.

She was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Chelsea Byrum; two great-grandsons, Atticus Byrum and Lucas Jay; son-in-law Steven Brinkley; three brothers and two sisters.

Nonnie is survived by her daughter, Tracy Brinkley, Erick; three grandchildren, Michael Brinkley and wife Kelly, Josh Brinkley and wife Cinnamon, and Kimberly Brinkley and partner Skylar Kerr, all of Erick; 14 great-grandchildren, Aiden, Charli, Ender, Zack, Brian, Allison, Maci, Pyper, Kolton, AeeAnn, Jaylynn, Trevor, Krysta and Easton; one sister, Catherine Mitchell, Kingfisher; one brother, Felix Keough, Plate Cove East, Newfoundland, Canada; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 23, at the St. Matthew Catholic Church in Elk City officiated by Father Danny Grover. Burial will follow at Erick Cemetery at 2 p.m.

Services are under the direction of Chris Whinery and the staff of Affordable Cremation Service-West.
