Ladonna Schweitzer
Ladonna Joyce Schweitzer, 82, passed away peacefully in her home Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2022, with family by her side.
Ladonna was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Mae Riley, and daughter, Donnesa Jo Schweitzer.
She is survived by daughter Doyla Joyce Schoonover and husband Mike of Bartlesville, son-in-law Jack Curtis Deane of Watonga; grandchildren Jacob and Kaisha Johnson and great-grandsons Miles and Henry Johnson of Oklahoma City, Caleb Deane and Anthony Wilson of Oklahoma City, Promise Deane of Edmond, and Kailyn and Kaimron Schoonover of Bartlesville.
She was the best mom, grandma and great-grandma anyone could ask for.
Born in Piedmont, but living most of her life in Kingfisher, Ladonna worked at TG&Y for the majority of her working years and then became an operator at Pioneer Telephone Cooperative until she retired.
After retirement, she could not sit still as she continued to serve at the local food bank and volunteer at the Upper Room thrift store for many years.
Anyone who knew her loved her for her honesty, servant’s heart, her loyalty and friendship. She loved playing the piano at her church and in her home.
Her family has many cherished memories of her collections of crystal and depression glass dishes, wind chimes, redbirds, birdwatching and repairing many of her family’s clothing items on her sewing machine.
If you dropped by her home anytime, you could usually find her in one of her many flower beds, on her back porch with a cup of coffee or in her rocking chair crocheting an afghan or reading an Amish book.
Ladonna was a quiet person and per her request the family held a private graveside memorial service Saturday, May 20.
There will be no other services held.
