Koni Hembree
Koni Langley Hembree, 64, died unexpectedly at her home in Joplin, Mo., on Sunday, Oct. 11, 2020.
A graveside service under the direction of Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home of Hennessey will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at the Kingfisher Cemetery with Rev. P. J. Stewart officiating.
Visitation with the family will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Koni was born in Hong Kong, China, in 1956 and was adopted by M. Fred and Patty J. Langley in 1960 at age 4.
She graduated from Kingfisher High School and graduated from Columbia College in Columbia, Mo.
Koni spent many years in the banking profession in Oklahoma City.
She relocated to Joplin, Mo., in 2011 to be closer to her son. Shortly thereafter, her invalid mother, Pat, relocated to Joplin, where they shared a house until Pat’s death in 2017.
Koni had a deep faith and attended church throughout her life.
She was an accomplished pianist and played for her church in Oklahoma City for several years.
She also was an accomplished artist, seamstress and cook.
Koni had many close friends with whom she loved to spend time.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include her son Aaron, his wife KC and their two children, Jazzlyn and Huxtyn; two brothers, Larry L. Langley and wife Barbara of Wagoner and Gary F. Langley and wife Terry of Marble, Colo.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
