    Iva Nell “Ivy” Wetzel, formerly of Kingfisher, died Feb. 10, 2025, in Woodward.

    Funeral services were held Feb. 18 in Walters.

    She was born Dec. 7, 1947, in Duncan to Ivan and Oneda Laverne (Howard) Tompkins.

    She grew up in Walters and married her high school sweetheart, Ronald W. Wetzel, on June 15, 1968, two years after graduating from Walters High School.

    The couple moved to Mobile, Ala., while Ron was serving in the Army and soon settled in Kingfisher with their two sons, Russell and Richard.

    Ivy was an elementary school teacher and piano teacher. She taught early child development classes at a community college and volunteered many hours playing organ and piano for various community churches and events.

    She was a fan of all things Disney and Harry Potter. At the time of her death, she was a member of First United Methodist Church of Kingfisher.

    She is survived by her son Russell Wetzel, his wife Celeste, and their two children Roy and Cordelia; her son, Richard Wetzel and, his wife Leigh, and their two children Anna and Katie and a brother Donald J. Tompkins of Lawton.
