Glenn Beebe

Glenn William Beebe passed away Saturday, May 14, 2022, in Oklahoma City.

Glenn was born in Kingfisher on July 26, 1940, to Ralph William Beebe and Laura Olga Stege Beebe, both of Kingfisher.

Glenn attended and graduated from Kingfisher Public Schools, where he made numerous lifelong friends. Glenn worked for National Packaging in Oklahoma City for 25 years.

After retirement, he returned to Kingfisher and began working at Emmanuel Lutheran Church where he was a lifelong member.

He was always there to make sure everything was ready to go. He was the first one through the door, the last one to leave and did everything necessary in between.

Glenn was well known in the community for his countless hours of service to others. He could always be found volunteering his time at The Upper Room Thrift Store, Kingfisher in Lights and Meals on Wheels just to name a few.

Those many hours led to him being presented with the well-deserved honors of Kingfisher Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year and Opportunities, Inc., Volunteer of the Year.

Glenn has been described as Kingfisher’s first unofficial “Uber” driver, as he was always giving rides to and from the airport or wherever someone needed.

When Glenn wasn’t volunteering, he was pursuing his favorite hobby of toy collecting.

Throughout the years, Glenn collected thousands of Matchbox cars, Ertl vehicles and various other vintage toys including tractors, planes and trains.

Glenn’s nieces considered him the “cool” uncle, dubbing him Uncle Willie.

He would take them to the lake, to the circus, riding in the dune buggy and on family trips.

Glenn was a huge supporter of Lomega basketball. He would load up the blue van and travel all over Oklahoma to watch his nieces play ball.

This tradition continued as he started following his great- and great-great nieces and nephews in Kingfisher sports.

Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Laura Beebe, and his brother-in-law, Ronny Curtis.

He is survived by his sister, Karen Curtis, and his nieces Rhonda (Michael) Chlouber, Vonda Curtis and Lavon (Jon) Friesen, all of Kingfisher. Glenn is also survived by numerous great- and great-great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at Emmanuel Lutheran Church on Tuesday, May 17, with burial at Kingfisher Cemetery, under the direction of Sanders Funeral Service.
