George ‘Robert’ Moore

George ‘Robert’ Moore passed away April 20, 2020, in Henderson, Nev.

Robert was born Nov. 17, 1940, in Altus to George Hoyle Moore and Edith Knight Moore.

The family lived in Altus before eventually moving to Mangum.

He received an undergraduate degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State University and a doctorate in education from Oklahoma State University.

He spent his career in the field of science education, beginning in Kingfisher, followed by positions at Indiana University and the University of Nevada-Las Vegas.

He was passionate about teaching and encouraging curiosity and learning. He was an avid coffee drinker and always the first customer at his local coffee shop each morning.

Robert is survived by children Meredith Renee Moore of Baltimore and Kevin Michael Moore of Tulsa.

They have many fond memories, including summer trips to various state parks, rounds of miniature golf, playing board or card games after dinner and picking his brain about all sorts of topics.

He is also survived by a brother, Royce, and sisterin-law Sherry of Ohio, and their children, Tommy and Suzanne. Family asks in lieu of
