Emmett Patton
Emmett Washington Patton, 88, passed away Sunday, Feb. 25, 2024.
He was born Oct. 21, 1935, in Dover, to James Henry and Effie Josephine (Edwards) Patton.
Emmett went to Dover Schools until high school and then moved to Kingfisher where he graduated.
He moved to Seagraves, Texas, for work driving a semi-truck.
That is where he met Morene Shirley and they began their lives together. They married April 3, 1957, in Brownfield, Texas.
They moved to Kingfi sher in 1958 and raised their three children, Lonny, Elaine and Rebecca.
Over the years Emmett worked at Pioneer Telephone, Farmers Co-op, F&M Parts and had Patton’s Service Station along with being a U-Haul dealer for 21 years. He also later worked for local farmers.
Emmett served two terms as city commissioner and was a member of the Odd Fellows.
Emmett was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Myrtle Clara Patton; brother, John James Patton; brother, Billy Patton; sister- Marie Patton; and son, Lonny Patton.
Emmett is survived by his wife of 66 years, Morene Patton, and daughters Elaine (Mark) Wilczek and Rebecca (Russell) Stitt, all of Kingfisher.
Also, grandchildren Chris (Carrie) Patton, Lonnita Campbell, all of El Reno; Jamie (Kelli) Patton, Jaclyn (Fernando) Patton, all of Clinton; Patrick Wilczek, Lacey (Kelby) Benda, Alexis Stitt and Siera Stitt, all of Kingfisher; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Donations may be made in Emmett’s name to Kingfi sher Meals on Wheels.
Visitation will be Thursday, Feb. 29, at Sanders Funeral Service. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Friday, March 1, at Dover Cemetery.
