Dr. Enid Buswell Bates

Dr. Enid Buswell Bates, 93, passed away April 8, 2021, in Amarillo, Texas.

Final memorial service is Saturday, May 29, at the Kingfisher First United Methodist Church.

Burial was April 14 at Kingfisher Cemetery.

Enid was born Dec. 15, 1927, in Oklahoma City to Enid Scott and Albert Currier Buswell.

She married Raymond W. Bates in 1952. They lived in Amarillo and Canyon, Texas, where she taught art in the public schools before earning her Ph.D. and taking a position at West Texas State University in 1970.

She taught curriculum and instruction until her retirement in 1997.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers Albert C. Buswell Jr., Dr. Arthur W. Buswell and wife Jane, Sidney S. Buswell, Richard “Ted” Buswell and wife Wynona, and nephew Albert C. Buswell III.

Survivors include two sisters-in-law, Margaret and Rosemary, and 12 nieces and nephews and their families.
