Donald R. Black, 85, Kingfisher, died Tuesday, April 9, 2019. ›Don was raised in Seminole and after high school graduation attended Oklahoma A&M, where he pursued a degree in psychology. While attending Oklahoma A&M, he took a leave of absence to serve in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
When he returned home he completed his degree at what is now Oklahoma State University.
On Dec. 21, 1958, Don and Kaye were married.
Don was a store manager for Montgomery Ward, but in 1967 he moved his family to Weatherford and opened up a State Farm Insurance agency. He later moved to Kingfisher. ›Don is survived by his wife of 60 years, Kaye; two children, Vance Black and Donna Kay Arafat and husband Bassam; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and sister Peggy Harris. ›He was preceded in death by his parents, Rockford and Gladys Black, and granddaughter Amanda Dawn.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 16, at the Church of Christ in Weatherford.
