Donald Eugene “Don” Bredy, 72, passed away on Feb. 14, 2025, in Crescent.

Growing up in a loving home in Cordell, Don learned the importance of hard work and good family values.

He pursued higher education at Southwestern Oklahoma State University, earning a bachelor’s degree in education while maintaining a full-time job paying for tuition.

Don began his professional career as a school teacher at Big Four and Kingfisher schools. However, after getting married to Brenda Barker in 1979 and having a child two years later, Don felt the need to pursue a higher earning potential to support his growing family.

He got a job as a pumper for Bogert Oil Company, located in Kingfisher. Provided with a subpar El Camino car for a work vehicle, he worked long hours and performed some hazardous tasks to prove his worth.

Over the years, Don built a respected career in the industry and retired in 2014 as a production foreman at Chesapeake Energy.

Beyond his professional life, he was a devoted spouse and father who provided a stable and supportive environment for his family.

Don was active in his boys’ lives, with sports being a primary pastime. He taught them how to hunt and fish and he attended every soccer game.

Don also enjoyed participating in a variety of sporting activities with family and friends, including golfing, water skiing, bowling, softball and table tennis.

What’s more, he gave the gift of sport to Kingfisher Public Schools by initiating the school district’s wrestling program during his teaching years.

Most important of all, Don’s relationship with Jesus Christ played an essential role throughout his life. From an early age, he came to know Christ while attending catechism studies at a Lutheran church with his family and continued to deepen his understanding of God through Bible study and prayer throughout his life.

His faith was reflected in countless acts of kindness, care and giving, mostly done discreetly.

In his last years, Don and Brenda turned their family farm in Crescent into a homestead.

Don enjoyed being outdoors, doing activities such as clearing land, mowing, and tending to his chickens.

He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren on the weekends, taking them on walks through the pasture, through the forest and teaching them to drive on his UTV.

Don is survived by his beloved spouse, Brenda, and his sons Brandon and Brock. He was preceded in death by his parents Otto and Mary Frances.

A funeral service will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 21, at First Baptist Church in Crescent (220 S. Grand).

Don’s legacy of love, generosity and unwavering faith will continue to inspire those who knew him.
