Curtis Kirby
Curtis Doyal Kirby, 85, died March 31, 2022, at the Norman Veterans Center.
He was born Oct. 21, 1936, in Kingfisher to George Emery Kirby and Maggie Lou Stallcup Kirby.
Curtis served in the U.S. Air Force from 1954-56.
He had two sons with Carol Donnelly Kirby.
He later married Cheryl Yvonne King on Jan. 24, 1969. They had one daughter.
Curtis and Cheryl were married 48 years at the time of her death in 2017.
He was a longtime member of Dover First Baptist Church.
He worked for many years as an equipment operator for Farrar Construction.
Curtis was known to be ornery, mischievous and cranky to some, but was also loving, kind and fatherly to others. He was loved and he will be missed.
Curtis was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Cheryl, three brothers and two sisters.
He is survived by sister Chris McClure of Cashion; son Charles Doyle “Skip” Kirby and wife Lyne of Norman; son John Edward Kirby and husband Ted Warkentin of California; daughter Angela Yvonne Marks and husband Adam of Cashion; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
