Christine ‘Chris’ Yost
Christine Marie (Harzman) Yost was born April 16, 1956, in La Crosse, Kan., to Fred “Bud” Harzman and Irene (Mai) Harzman.
She passed from this life Dec. 30, 2024, at Mercy Hospital Watonga.
Chris was the third child born to her family and was always considered to be a miracle baby.
The family moved to Kingfisher in 1961 from Pratt, Kan.
Riding and showing horses at an early age was her passion. She and her sister Vienna loved their horses “Red” and “Char Bar.”
Chris graduated from Kingfisher High School in 1974 and married Gene Yost on Aug. 9, 1975, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Kingfisher.
It was a marriage that lasted over 49 years. They resided in Stillwater for two years, moved to Alva on June 1, 1978, and settled in Crescent from Jan. 1, 1979, to present.
Besides being a wife and mother, Chris found time to attend Central State University in Edmond, graduating with a degree in business.
The staff at Mercy Hospital, including the doctors, nurse practitioner, nurses, cook and cleaning personnel went above and beyond providing exceptional care for Chris and her family during a very difficult time.
Chris is survived by her husband Gene Yost, daughter Sarah Nealis, son-in-law Danny Nealis and grandson Trent Nealis, all of Crescent. She is also survived by her mother Irene Harzman, brother Alan Harzman and wife Kay, and sister-in-law Sue Yost, all of Kingfisher; sister Vienna Lewis of Woodward; and her “favorites,” the nephews and nieces.
Chris was preceded in death by her father Fred “Bud” Harzman, in-laws Lawrence and Wilma Yost and brothers-in-law Kenneth Yost and Gene Lewis.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Kingfisher under the direction of Sanders Funeral Service.
