Butch Overbay

The funeral for Butch Overbay, 65, was Monday, Dec. 2, at First Christian Church in Hennessey offi ciated by Rev. Ish Engle and Jimmy Berkenbile. Burial followed at Hennessey Cemetery under the direction of Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home.

Butch was born in Amarillo, Texas, on Nov. 26, 1959, to Earl Ray and Gladys Katherine Collins Overbay and died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2024, at his in Yukon.

He married Claudia Parker in Hennessey on April 3, 1981. The couple made their home in Hennessey for several years prior to moving to Yukon.

Butch was a member of First Christian Church of Hennessey. He raced stock cars at Enid over 20 years ago.

Butch is survived by his wife Claudia of the home; daughter Amy Barnes and husband Paul of Yukon; son Danny Overbay and wife Scotlyn of Yukon; mother Gladys Overbay of Hennessey; three brothers, Bill Overbay and wife Mary, Chris Overbay, Gerry Overbay; sister Scooter Thompson and husband Jay; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and one infant sister, Annette Overbay.
