Billie Lovell
Billie Dolores Bullard Lovell died Monday, June 1, 2020, at her home in Hennessey.
Services are 10 a.m. Saturday, June 13, at First United Methodist Church in Hennessey officiated by Rev. P.J. Stewart.
Cremation arrangements are by Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home.
Billie was born on her grandparents’ farm outside of Garber on April 11, 1930.
Billie’s early years were spent growing up on the farm outside of Garber.
With the outbreak of World War II, her father went to work at the Army Air Base in Enid. The family moved to Waukomis where she attended high school. She married Bob Lovell on June 13, 1948, a union that lasted 71 years.
The couple moved to Tulsa where Bob attended law school. After he graduated law school, Bob took a job at Farmers and Merchants National Bank in Hennessey and he and Dolores made their home there.
She remained a resident of Hennessey for the next 68 years.
Dolores and Bob raised three boys in Hennessey. She worked as a nurse’s aide at the Kingfisher hospital for a few years.
Once their youngest son was out of grade school, she attended Phillips University to obtain her bachelor’s degree in education.
Following graduation, she taught English, speech and drama for 20 years at Dover and Waukomis schools.
Dolores is survived by her husband Bob of the home; one brother, John Bullard (Marian); one sister, Lois Gose; three sons, Don “Rusty” Lovell, Bill Lovell (Patty) and John Lovell (Geneva); and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
