Sales tax up for some towns
January sales tax checks were higher for three county towns and down for three others.
Hennessey, Dover and Loyal showed gains while Kingfisher, Okarche and Cashion had decreases in comparison with the January 2018 distribution.
Kingfisher County also showed a gain over the preceding January’s collection of 48.7 percent
The January distribution of sales tax collections by the Oklahoma Tax Commission primarily represents local tax receipts from November business. Companies that remit more than $2,500 monthly in sales tax receipts are required to file and pay electronically. The monies they reported this period represent sales from November 16th to November 30th and estimated sales from December 1st to December 15th .
The disbursement of $164,563,429 in sales tax collections returned to the cities and towns reflected an increase of $10,914,363 from the $153,649,066 distributed to the cities and towns in January last year.
The use tax disbursement to cities and towns totaled $23,910,502.
In county returns, the counties shared in a $28,803,038 sales tax disbursement and a $4,667,029 use tax disbursement.
Area town’s and Kingfisher County’s comparison of use tax receipts in January compared to January 2018 follow with the current year’s amount listed first:
Kingfisher County – $312,717.63 and $165,152.84.
City of Kingfisher – $58,167.70 and $67,740.60.
Hennessey – $13,199.45 and $9,788.97.
Cashion –$8,494.42 and $6,250.22.
Dover – $3,743.51 and $14,596.42.
Okarche – $27,808.81 and $18,440.09.
Watonga – $234,490.08 and $19,187.92.
Crescent – $6,193.75 and $3,468.74
