Lomega, Calumet split wins
Lomega’s month away from home continued last Tuesday with an easy 5525 victory at Calumet.
The Lady Raiders improved to 4-0 with the win, which was their second of seven consecutive road games that will see them go nearly 40 days before they play on their home court again.
Home court mattered little for Calumet.
After a slow start, Lomega outscored its hosts 20-3 in the second quarter to stake a 23-point halftime lead.
It continued to grow from there Darcy Roberts scored 12 of her game-high 19 points in the second half.
Aliana Lawson scored nine while Abby Swart added eight.
Calumet had no player reach double figures.
Lomega’s next home game is Dec. 16 with Cherokee and then it will be Jan. 13 before the Raider squads return home again.
Chieftains pull away late
Dalton Belcher caught fire in the fourth quarter and that meant no Lomega comeback.
The Calumet junior scored 14 points in the final frame last Tuesday as the Chieftains pulled away from Lomega for a 66-50 home win.
The Raiders had cut Calumet’s lead to 44-40 entering that final quarter.
Sophomore Chase Burton knocked down a trio of 3-pointers in the third quarter as Lomega outscored Calumet 18-15.
But Belcher answered with three 3’s of his own in the fourth as Calumet outscored the Raiders 22-10.
Belcher finished the night with 24 points while Hunter Arnold scored 18 and Kyler Thiessen 14.
That trio combined to make all nine of Calumet’s 3-pointers.
Burton nailed six of them for the Raiders as he also made three in the first quarter.
He finished with 18 and was the only Raider in double figures.
Brooks Uhlenhake scored all eight of his points in the second half.
Owen Duffy and Kelby Ott added seven apiece as Lomega dropped to 2-2.
