The home of Brice and Laura (Spurrier) Moulton and their three children, at 406 N. Cheyenne, Hennessey, was destroyed in a Tuesday afternoon fire. Assistant Hennessey Fire Chief James Matousek said the front and side walls are about all that’s left standing of the structure after 11 firefighters and five vehicles responded to the call shortly before 1 p.m. Only one family member was home, a sixth grade daughter, who was alerted to the fire by the family dogs and escaped without injury, Matousek said. The cause of the fire has not been determined but Matousek said “a hot spot was on the west wall in the kitchen and utility room.” See the full story online at kingfisherpress.net. A line of violent storms moving rapidly from west to east Monday afternoon brought a flood of storm chasers into the county, but local amateur photographers also captured some dramatic images. At top left, Amanda Wiggins stopped on the Dover-Loyal blacktop to capture the massive front, with rain visible in the distance. At top right, Tyrel McLane caught a funnel lowering in the Loyal-Omega area in this photo shot from his truck on S.H. 33 at County Road NS 2920. Zach Kuehn caught a different angle of the funnel cloud (bottom right) from a wellsite five miles west of the Loyal grain elevator. Taylor Jennings stopped to capture a panoramic shot (bottom left) from Victory Lane and County Road NS 2830 south of Kingfisher. Kingfisher High School senior Sydney Purintun has been honored for her work as an athletic trainer for the school’s athletes. Purintun was recently named an All- State alternate for the western half of the state by the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Athletic Trainers. The selection process included an application as well as letters of recommendation from a head coach (Jeff Myers), administrator and a certified trainer. Purintun also had to submit videos of herself taping an ankle and a wrist/hand/thumb and wrapping an ice pack on a shoulder. A committee of athletic trainers took part in the selection process.
