Read moreMembers of the Kingfisher High School band competed April 19 in the OSSAA state solo and ensemble contest at Oklahoma State University. The students wearing gray shirts on the back row, from left, Jesus Montiel, Andrew Osborn, Brody Boden and Coleman Kitchens, are the percussion quartet. They earned a superior on their selection entitled, “Release the Kraken.” Superior is the highest rating you can receive. Colton Livingston, the first student on the left, earned a superior for his clarinet solo, “Sicilienne.” Alezandro Cuellar, second from left on the front row, earned an excellent for his trombone solo, “A Day in Venice.” Erica Jenkins-Farris, middle of the front row, earned an excellent for her flute solo, “Menuett.” Ana Cuellar received a good rating for her clarinet solo, “Andante and Rondo” and KC Ortega earned a superior rating on her flute solo, “Bergamask.” [Photo provided]
