A 22-year-old school record fell Monday morning when Scout Snodgrass crossed the finish line of the 3,200 meter relay.

Snodgrass ran the anchor leg for Kingfisher High School in that event during the Class 4A regional track and field meet at Moore.

She crossed in first place, not only giving KHS the regional championship, but the time of 9:54.25 proved to be the fastest-ever for KHS.

She was joined on the gold medal winning team by Lily Lunsford, Mattie Slezickey and Kinley Taylor.

That eclipsed the mark set by (maiden names) Kristi McMullin, Amy Mc-Mullin, Brittania Long and Niki Mueggenborg, who ran a 9:57.10 in 2002.

In the final race of the day, Snodgrass, Taylor, Slezickey and Abbie Myers took second place in the 1,600 meter relay.

Their time of 4:06.64 was just .04 off the school record.

It capped a day in which KHS finished third as a team with 96 points in the regional.

Plainview won the regional crown with 134 points while Cache was the runner-up with 111.

Snodgrass made the most of her events as she claimed two individual medals to go with her two in the relays.

The sophomore edged Cache’s Amidat Olokunola to win the 800 meter run. Snodgrass crossed in 2:20.18, just .12 ahead of Olokunola.

She was also second behind Jacey Hammon in the 400, running the race in 59.20 seconds.

That automatically qualifi ed Snodgrass in all four of her events.

Myers was an automatic qualifier in two individual events.

The sophomore was third in both the long jump and the 300 meter hurdles.

Talor Mecklenburg punched her ticket to state in the 100 meter hurdles by winning the bronze medal.

KHS also got points from:

• The 400 meter relay team of Ashley Casillas, Taitym Walker, Rylee Long-Bush and Hannah Francis, which was fifth;

• The 800 meter relay team of Casillas, Meck- lenburg, Walker and Francis, which placed fourth;

• Harper Evans and Addison Price in the two-mile run. Evans was fourth and Price fifth.

Some of those athletes could qualify for state, which is Friday and Saturday at Catoosa High School.

The top three placers in each event from each of the four regionals automatically qualify.

The next six best times, distances or heights from all the combined regionals will also advance as additional qualifiers.

The official list of additional qualifiers had not been released at press time.

The KHS boys scored four points at the meet.

Caleb Meadors notched half of them with his fifthplace finish in the high jump, clearing 5-8.

Carson Nusz was sixth in the 400 and Jake Reagan took sixth in the discus.
